Biography

Ms. Kaefer is the Communications Coordinator for the Epidemiology and Genetics Research Program (EGRP). She develops and disseminates information about NCI and EGRP activities, grantsmanship, research resources, and supported research to a variety of audiences, including Congress, advocacy groups, the public, media, and the international research community. She also is a Registered Dietitian.

Before joining EGRP in 2008, Ms. Kaefer was a Scientific Information Analyst in NCI's Office of Centers, Training, and Resources (OCTR), where she assisted the Cancer Centers Branch with communications activities related to NCI-designated Cancer Centers. Ms. Kaefer first joined NCI in 2005 as a Presidential Management Fellow (PMF). As a PMF, she worked on communications projects and materials for the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences' (DCCPS) Behavioral Research Program (BRP); NCI's Center for Bioinformatics; NCI's Office of Centers, Training, and Resources (OCTR); the Nutritional Sciences Research Group in NCI's Division of Cancer Prevention (DCP); and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. Prior to joining HHS, she served for 8 years on Active Duty in the U.S. Army in a variety of clinical and management roles.
